    Fun Facts about Myself

*In love with my man for over 12 years, and proud mother of two young ones (5 & 3 yrs old)

*In another life, I worked in an office in front of big excel boards. I quit everything in 2014 to create a new life full of encounters. I am proud today of following my passions.

*A world citizen who really LOVE travelling. I've lived in France, Canada, Argentina, and Spain. Born French, I became Canadian almost a decade ago. I had the chance to travel to Central America, the Caribbean Islands, and Kenya for work. I have explored a few places in North America & Europe in my leisure time. I even took a sabbatical year in 2015 to backpack around South-East Asia with my husband. Discovering other cultures is in my DNA!

*I have very short hair, love it and feel more feminine that way.

*When I am not wandering around with visitors, I am still walking around Montreal but with my camera since I am also a portrait photographer. During wintertime, I am a teacher in preschool & primary schools offering diverse content like sciences workshops, french classes & initiation to programming!

*I never say no to chocolate, Sunday brunch and a board game with friends.

    Marie Montreal Private Walking Tour

An insightful, factual and fun urban experience!

A guided tour is not a teaching lesson; it is mainly an urban experience between the guide, the visitors, and the city. Everything is a matter of balance based on what I know, but especially on what interests you. I adjust my tour as we explore together, at our own pace.

I offer well-honed private tours all-year-round, but I can also offer customized ones according to your specific needs. I particularly enjoy small private walking/biking tours. It gives me the opportunity to have a real connection with my guests, to talk about a subject you really care about and to answer any questions you may have in mind about Montreal. I will also make sure to give you ideas to explore the city further during your own time.

I collaborate with agencies offering Electric Scooters & Bicycles rentals. Do not hesitate to send me a message to know more about it.

I am particularly touched when guests, at the end of a tour, give me big hugs to thank me. They feel like they spent the day with an old friend and, that they learned so much while having fun. It also makes me proud when Montrealers, born and raised in the city, are looking with new eyes at the streets trampled a thousand times, telling me that they have the impression of traveling within their own city and they will go to bed more educated. #TrueStories

My fees: from $CAD 210 for a private 2.5hrs tour. Fees may vary depending of the size of the group.

Family-Friendly Private Tour / Young kids

As mentioned above, I am a young mom (2 toddlers!). Moreover, I used to be the eldest of a 5-children family. During wintertime, I also teach in preschools and middle schools. At ease with your young ones, I'd be more than happy to customize a family-friendly tour!

A bit of everything: Mountain to River (3 hrs) - Private Walking tour

Marie went above and beyond our expectations...from personally reaching out to us before/after the tour, to making the entire experience fun and knowledgeable. Her passion for Montreal is evident. She truly desires to make your tour memorable and meaningful-she accomplished that with all her inside stories and antidotes. Her kind spirit showed through the entire time...we learned a little bit about every section of the city. I would 100% recommend Marie if you are looking for a special time in Montreal

    Jeanne - From Boston, USA

Old Montreal (3hrs) - Private Walking Tour - in Winter!

I had such an amazing time! Thank you for making the whole experience so engaging and fun. Despite 3 hours in 4 degree F cold and snow, I never felt so warm. You are so gifted at turning history, travel, architecture, shopping and Montreal-only-details into an engaging and experiential time. I am renaming you Sainte Marie! I can't wait to come back and enjoy another tour with you!!! Merci

[Jeanne did come back a month later and booked another customized 3h-tour: Downtown+Mt Royal+Mile-end/Little Italy!]

    Old-Montreal (2h30) - Private Walking tour

We are SO happy we found Marie! A group of 6 friends and I traveled from Chicago for the first time to Montreal. We had no idea where to start or what to see. Marie was extremely friendly and accommodating right from the start through emails. It's very clear she knows her city well and loves it! She does her tour through story telling and everyone in the group commented later how much we learned and how interesting her stories were. Highly recommend!!

    Kimberly - From Virginia, USA

    Old-Montreal (3 hrs) - Walking tour

    E-Scooter Tours (3h + 4h) - Exploring Mt-Royal, Mile-end, Little Italy, Downtown & Old Montreal (Among others things!)

My wife and I went on a 3-hour tour with Marie. We enjoyed our time so much with her and the sights she showed us that we booked her again for a 4-hour tour two days later. The scooters are extremely easy to use and you get to see so much more than you would if you rode a bike or walked. Take the tour as soon as you can after arriving in Montreal to allow you to orient yourself with this wonderful city and make sure Marie takes you to the bagel shop during the tour. Money well spent.

Kasia & George - From New Hampshire, USA

Old Montreal (2hrs) - Private Walking Tour

My husband and I had a fantastic private tour of the Old Town with Marie last Friday and we highly recommend her! Despite inclement weather, Marie was upbeat and energetic every minute of our tour. She was very knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about her city and took time to answer all of our questions. Two hours with Marie absolutely flew by! And by the end we really had learned a great deal about Montreal's fascinating history and architecture in a most enjoyable way. We ended at a fantastic cafe and Marie took time to help us plan the best way to see the rest of the city during our remaining days. It was such a pleasure to meet Marie and our tour with her was a highlight of our time in Montreal.

    Susan - From Colorado, USA

We loved our walking tour with Marie. She is energetic and enthusiastic about Montreal. She gave us a great historical overview of the city and shared many fun and interesting stories about Montreal. We had a very enjoyable morning with Marie. She also gave us some great suggestions for other things to see in the city during our free time. It was a wonderful tour!

Julielyn - From Burlington, Vermont, USA

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Private Walking tour

Our tour with Marie was fantastic! She was very prompt, and when one of the members of my family weren't feeling well, she was incredibly patient and accommodating to their needs.

Anyone can rattle off facts, but Marie made our time together very informative, interactive and fun and she happily answered all of our questions. She even provided us with great suggestions of things to do and see after our tour was over.

When I come back, I'll definitely look into booking another tour with her again. Thank you Marie!! Five stars!!! <3

    Becky - From Vermont, USA

Old Montreal + International District (3hrs) - Private Walking Tour

Marie was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and with just the right amount of enthusiasm. There were 2 adults and 2 teenagers on our tour of old Montreal, and she made all of it very interesting for all of us - picky teenagers included :) Her communication through email beforehand was great. She clearly loves her job and the city - Thank you, Marie!

Nancy - From New Hampshire, USA

    Old-Montreal (2.5hrs) - Walking tour

This was a great tour of Old Montreal. Marie knows the city's history and shares some great stories about the beginnings and people who helped to build the city. You can tell she loves the city and is passionate about sharing that love. Much of what she shared would not have been obvious if we just walked around on our own. So glad we took the tour.

    Julia - Fron Toronto, Canada

A bit of everything: Mountain to River (3 hrs) - Private Walking tour

I RATE THIS FIVE STARS - Marie is energetic, thoughtful, informed, funny, and a real indication of the future of Montréal. I predict big things for both Marie and her adopted home. I'd book her again in a minute!

Pablo & Samantha - From Adelaide, Australia

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Walking tour

Marie ran a fantastic tour of old Montreal, teaching us about the earlier days and how it was established. She was very knowledgeable on the city’s history and showed her passion with the group. She also pointed out a few great places to eat afterwards If you would like to learn about old Montreal with a passionate local, you can’t go past this tour!

    Ben - From Montreal, QC

Downwtown & Old Montreal (3hrs) - Walking Tour

Marie loves what she is doing and it shows! I had the pleasure to be her guest during the downtown + old Montreal tour and I learnt so many things even though I have been living in the city for almost 10 years. It was entertaining, not too long and her good energy is contagious. I highly recommend her!

    Lorel - From Canterbury, Australia

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Walking tour

Marie is the perfect guide for visitors to Montreal. While explaining the fascinating history of this wonderful city, her warmth and wit make this tour a must-do intro to the many intriguing stories that still resonate in the streets of old Montreal. Highly recommended.

    Eileen - From NYC, USA

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Private Walking tour

What a wonderful experience, our guide Marie was welcoming and knowledgeable in sharing history and her love for Montreal was infectious. We had a wonderful time, learned much about your lovely city and her enthusiasm carried us through the rest of our trip. Marie's introduction allowed us to see the city on our own taking in Montreal art, history and food. We will be back.

Taco & Flavia - From São Paulo, Brazil

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Private Walking tour

Marie was an absolute great guide. She told us so many interesting stories and showed us details of the city that we’d never see if we were wandering the streets alone. She knew about architecture and urbanization, politics, history, art... she explained details about Canadian culture and symbols that we hadn’t heard yet, including about culinary and the maple traditions. Very friendly, kind and fun to talk too - we had a great time together (even with the cold rainy weather)! We surely recommend booking a tour with her! Thanks, Marie! You made us enjoy Montreal even more.

Denise & Allison - From Detroit, USA

Mountain to River (3hrs) on Day 1 + Old-Montreal (3 hrs) on Day 2 - Private Walking tours

Marie - Allison and I enjoyed every minute with you. You are an amazing advocate for the city of Montreal. You are one of a kind and your passion is evident! We would recommend you beyond 5 stars if we could :). Your love of Montreal shows through at every location in the city.

Jeff & his family of 7 - From USA

    Old-Montreal (2 hrs) - Private Walking tour

We scheduled a walking tour with Marie on short notice and couldn't have been more pleased. Marie was responsive and flexible in setting up our tour. She was extremely knowledgeable about Montreal and had many interesting stories that brought life to the city's history. We highly recommend using Marie for anyone visiting Montreal.

    Rajeev - From London, UK

A bit of everything: Mountain to River (3 hrs) - Private Walking tour

We really enjoyed the tour. I was really impressed with the little touches to cater for my two young girls such as including the changing seasons light show. Marie had contacted me earlier to find out their interests and this shows the dilapidated fence and care she brought. She engaged both my girls to the extent that they forgot they had to walk.

    Jono - From USA

    Electric-Scooter tour (3 hrs)

I was nervous about driving the scooter at first. But Marie train you and so many of the streets have bike lanes it really wasn't a big deal. Marie was our guide and she was fantastic, so much fun and so informative and charming. It was such an adventure, I felt like we really got an insiders experience on Montreal. You make different stops and hear about the city. This is a great thing to do with a group or a couple. It was a highlight our trip!

Andrea & Kevin - From South Africa

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Private Walking tour

Marie was the highlight of my first Montreal visit! My husband and I booked a private walking tour of Old Montreal with Marie. I felt like we had a personalized and given a very special backdrop to this beautiful, sophisticated and elegant city by Marie. Fluent in English with a brilliant sense of humour - which I loved about her. Passionate about Montreal? This is Marie for sure. Can’t wait to come back with my teens to hear all the fabulous stories told by Marie.

    Monica - From Indiana, USA

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Private Walking tour

I booked a private tour of Old Montreal with Marie, for myself and two other family members. We had a wonderful time. Marie is an excellent guide. She not only talks about the history of the places that you see, she ties them into things going on today so you really feel how things have changed and evolved. I learned so much more from her than I would have if I had tried to do this on my own. I highly recommend her as a tour guide, and I looking forward to another tour with her this winter!

    Lauren - From Virginia, USA

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Private Walking tour

I had a wonderful private tour with Marie on a rainy morning in Montreal. I mentioned to Marie that I was interested in history and architecture and she indeed focused on these topics in a walk of the old quarter. She immediately sensed my level of knowledge and adapted the tour on the fly providing more in-depth information on the history of Montreal. The tour was very interactive; more of a conversation than a conventional "tour". Marie is bright and energetic and passionate about her work. I found her to be delightful and personable and I enjoyed our three hours spent together enormously. Marie left me with a map of our route and I was able to recreate the tour with my husband a couple of days later telling him the stories that Marie shared with me.
The tour with Marie was one of the highlights of my time in Montreal. I highly recommend her.

    Michael - From Detroit, USA

    Old-Montreal (2 hrs) - Private Walking tour

Marie was a terrific guide. I had been in the area for a few days before the tour and enjoyed it very much. But once we started the tour, she made the area 'Come to Life!. She is enthusiastic without going overboard, knows the area and its history very well and had stories about what led to specific events that formed the basis for how things are today. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and strongly recommend her! Mike P.

    John - From Minneapolis, USA

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Walking tour

Our walking tour with Marie was a really wonderful experience. She started with an overlook of the harbor and then a well-paced walk through the streets and sites of the old city. Marie brought energy and passion to her description of a variety of characters who were important in the history of the city. I think this was a unique approach, communicating the history through stories rather than facts and dates. Marie is both personable and knowledgeable. She really enjoys her role. She demonstrates a real interest in her guests. There is nothing rote or routine about a tour with Marie.

    Sandeep - From Dubai

Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Small Group Walking tour

I have had other guided tours before, but never one so enjoyable! Marie is passionate about her subject-& it shows. She prepared for her 2.5-hour tour with a diverse group of visitors to Montreal by asking for our specific fields of interests and made it a personal experience, I suspect, for each of us. I was a little lost still on the 3rd day of our stay in Montreal, trying to come to terms with the city, but Marie's deep insight into its history architecture made it come alive. Great going Marie!

    Michele - From Winnipeg, Canada

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Walking tour

Marie is FANTASTIC! I’ve traveled around the world and this is one of the best tours I’ve ever experienced. Marie is an excellent communicator and her passion for old Montréal shines through like the top of “Marches Bonsecours” well done Marie !! Thank you so much. Dale, Michele, Brad and Janice

Sean - From New York, USA

Full-Day (7-8hrs) - Walking Mountain to River + Biking tour - Family Private Day Experience

Marie is amazing. She's fun, insightful, creative and has amazing patience. She took me and my four young kids (12,10,8,8) around today on a tour by foot and by bike. We saw every part of Montreal as well as a bunch of fun insider stuff you just won't see on any old tour. Anyone who can handle an army of kids who ask when do they eat and "are we their yet" about a billion times while keeping everyone's attention, deserves the highest praise. All the kids have spent the rest of the day raving about Marie!

    Laurence - From Amsterdam, Netherlands

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Walking tour

We really enjoyed our tour with Marie! She was very thoughtful, having checked with us our expectations well ahead of the day of our tour and getting in touch with us the day before. She showed us the main points of attraction in the Old Montreal, telling us about the history of the city and other aspects as well. She answered all our questions, gave us some tips and was very entertaining. It was lovely to have her as a guide and we definitely recommend her tour. These are a few hours well spent!

    Suryani - From Australia

    Two (2) customized e-bikes (3 hrs) + e-scooter (3 hrs) tours

I did two private tours with Marie: 1) E-bike tour of Montreal, covering Old Montreal, Downtown, Old Port, a bit of the F1 track (Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve), then onto Île Sainte-Hélène (St Helen’s Island), crossed the Pont Jacques-Cartier and back to surrounding neighbourhood of the city. 2) E-scooter tour of Le-Plateau, Mont-Royal, Mile End and Little Italy.

I think these two are the best way to explore Montreal because it's such a big city. With the help of an E-bike and E-scooter, we could cover and explore more areas. I had an incredible experience and lots of fun with Marie. I have not biked for over 15 years and was feeling very nervous being on a bike. The very fun and encouraging Marie made the whole tour possible. She has changed my opinion and nervousness about cycling tour and I am actually doing more bike tours now! Marie is such a passionate guide who loves Montreal very much and like to show this amazing city with its visitors. She always has fun and interesting stories to add to the tour too, making the tours very unique. I enjoyed my time with Marie so much and I highly recommend her tours to anyone visiting Montreal. Both tours were the highlight of my trip to Montreal!

    Sidney - From California, USA

A bit of everything: Mountain to River (3 hrs) - Private Walking tour

Marie exceeds any expectation I had for an introductory tour of Montreal. She provided brilliant commentary. Her itinerary was well thought out and very well executed. Her energy, love of Montreal are infectious. Have booked many guides all over the world, she ranks among the best. If you want a ground-level view of Montreal and enjoy a walking experience you will not be disappointed.

Tom - From Houston, Texas, USA

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Walking tour

We four American adults had a wonderful 2-1/2 hour tour of Old Montreal with Marie. Although it was raining she found places for us to stand under cover while she explained the history, culture, and sights. Her presentation was knowledgeable, clever, and sometimes humorous, and when we asked questions she inevitably knew the answers. We highly recommend Marie to show you her city, of which she is justifiably proud.

John & friends - From Florida & Illinois, USA

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) + Underground Montreal (3hrs) - Two (2) walking tours

We booked two tours with Marie: the walking tour of old Montréal and the underground Montréal. She was really professional, on time, made great suggestions for restaurants and things to do that we did not consider before we arrived in Montréal. We changed our plans based on her advice, and everything she recommended was spot on. If you are here in October take the garden of lights tour as she recommended. Plus she has a wonderful spirit and personality! And is fun. Don’t miss her tours! Outstanding guide!

We were warmly welcomed by Marie in the lobby of our hotel! She was so enthusiastic and friendly. She gave us a comprehensive & relaxing tour of Old Montreal. We appreciated her passion & desire to impart her knowledge about the city she has come to love (without feeling rushed). Marie has such a warm personality and highly motivated guide. We truly enjoyed the walking tour. We got great recommendations of places to eat & other things to do in the event we got out early enough and had the opportunity to do some sightseeing on our own. This place is special & we cannot wait to return with our children.

A bit of everything: Mountain to River (3 hrs) - Private Walking tour

Marie's tour was definitely the highlight of my first trip to Montréal. Throughout the entire tour she shared interesting facts and history about the city, as well as information and sights tailored to my interests. Marie was so charming the time flew by while we covered quite a bit of ground. Marie even reviewed what else I had planned during my stay and made recommendations. By the way, take her advice and be sure to visit Marché de la Villette. Her tour truly was the perfect introduction to Montréal!

We had the best time on our tour with Marie. She is extremely knowledgeable of Montreal and the history behind this amazing city. She loves what she does and it shows. We are very grateful for the time she spent with us sharing fun loving stories behind each historical event. At the end of our tour Marie took the time to mark off on a map her recommendations for restaurants and night life. You will not be disappointed. We will be back to Montreal and plan on taking other tours with Marie.

Marie was a phenomenal guide on our walking tour today—knowledgeable, warm, engaging and fascinating! She shared the history of Montreal through her excellent story-telling skills and genuine passion for this city, which made the past come alive!! The walk was entirely pleasant, not too easy or too hard. She was solicitous of everyone’s comfort and shared a lot of information in such a lively and fun fashion! We believe EVERY visitor to Montreal should be able to experience this beautiful city through Marie’s eyes...and her stories...and her heart❣️ Thank you, Marie!

Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Small group Walking tour

Marie’s “Old-Montreal Delights with a local” tour was extremely informative and enjoyable. It’s clear from the beginning that she has put a lot of thought and research into her tour. As the very first thing I did after I arrived, I found her tour extremely helpful to get a fuller picture of the old town area, clearer picture of Montreal’s origins and key founders, and a helpful touchstone for navigating the modern version of old town during the rest of my stay. One more thing: Marie gives a nice summary of the founding of the country of Canada. She is warm and engaging throughout the tour and provides an insightful, nuanced description of historical events, the key men and women who secured the settlement in its earliest years, and the evolving interplay between the French-speaking and English-speaking inhabitants. Her tour is top notch!

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Private Walking tour

Marie is an exceptional tour guide. She is smart, knowledgeable, fun, energetic, and passionate about Montreal and her role as a guide. you can't ask for much more than that. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Marie.

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Walking tour

Marie was extremely accommodating as we had two grandmothers on the trip with us and she waited patiently while we took photos and lingered to admire the sites. She was very informative and we all learned a lot about Vieux Montreal on this tour. At the end, she supplied us with a native sweet and a map where she detailed a few recommended restaurants. We got to try one of them for dinner and it was spectacular! This tour comes highly recommended. You will come away with an understanding of Montreal's wonderful history and a few interesting and funny takeaways.

    Old-Montreal (2.5 hrs) - Private Walking tour

My hubby and I took Marie’s private tour of Old Montreal in September 2019. She was very good about responding to email in the “setting up the tour” process. She gave us a good idea of what to expect on the tour and delivered what she promised - an informative, entertaining, story-filled 2.5 hours that was absolutely memorable. Marie has a great personality. We will remember our time with her fondly. You will not regret taking one of her tours. You will learn things you probably wouldn’t have picked up on your own. She is worth every penny!

Old-Montreal + Introduction to Underground (3 hrs) - Private Walking tour

Marie was so wonderful! As we planned the trip she was responsive and gave us some other suggestions that made our whole trip more magical! She was able to win my slightly tired, slightly cranky almost 5 year old over and was patient and playful with him, but lots of interesting stuff for the adults, too! I've taken many walking tours, but this was my first private tour- now I'm spoiled! When I make it back to Montreal, I'm definitely reaching out to Marie again! She's the perfect hostess!

Thanks again Marie for your time, recommendations, patience, excitement, and knowledge.

By the waterside (3 hrs) - Private Electric-Bike tour

Wow! this was an incredible experience! Marie was a fabulous tour guide: funny, knowledgeable, passionate, compassionate, and interesting. I have ridden a bike once in the last 15 years so I was a little nervous. The electric bike is easy and fun! She was cautious and took us through areas that were easy to ride, fun and safe. Marie was delightful in every way. If I lived in Montreal, I would want to invite her to dinner often! Thanks, Marie!

    Old-Montréal (2.5 hrs) - Private Walking Tour

Marie was an amazing tour guide. My wife and I were with our adult kids for an informative and fun tour of Old Montreal. She was super-knowledgable and so spirited; this was a great way to start our long week-end in Montreal. And be sure to ask her for other recommendations around town; she is happy to share and has great info. Highly recommend using Marie as a guide!

Marie: We had such an awesome time with you on Saturday! It was a great way to start off our week-end, which was fabulous overall. I just went online and left a 5 star review, which was well deserved!

Marie is very knowledgable, charming and engaging. She is able to answer all our questions, is generous with her time and my sister and I were both very impressed that she managed to speak and really keep our interests for the entire duration of the tour. We highly recommend this tour and Marie.

Fantastic views by waterside by e-bikes (3 hrs) - Electric-Bike Private Tour

Marie has infectious enthusiasm for Montreal! We thoroughly enjoyed this private tour of more than the standard tourist hot spots. We had unusually warm weather (October) to enjoy the E-Bikes allowing us to reach several villages, the waterfront and green spaces with little effort. Marie provided multiple stops with points of interest to appreciate the metamorphosis of the historical settlement into a planned urban centre with peaceful areas to escape city life (art installations, architecture, parks, Expo 67). Marie has a rich knowledge and shared hidden gems. I appreciated Marie asking in advance of the tour what we wanted to see. She matched our desires for a robust experience and even provided food recommendations for our stay.

Beyond the Tourist Trail by e-scooters (3 hrs) - Electric-Scooter Private Tour

Marie was a perfect guide for our first visit to Montreal. She toured us through the local areas, favorite dining spots, The Plateau whiich turned out to be a hidden gem once on top, and the numerous parks of Montreal which I was amazed. Marie had great stories to share on her experiences in Montreal which helped personalize our afternoon tour. We were very pleased and would highly recommend Marie to anyone coming to Montreal. It was a lovely and informative afternoon.
